Nutrition and Food Science Group

of Department of Analytical Chemistry and Food of Vigo University

department has its origins in the Colleges of Vigo and Ourense, created in 1972 and belonging to the University of Santiago. With the creation of the University of Vigo in 1990, the establishment of the Department of Pure and Applied Chemistry was approved.

The current Department of Analytical Chemistry and Food was founded in 1992, grouping together three areas of knowledge: Analytical Chemistry, Nutrition and Food Science, and Toxicology.

The Department is integrated by 28 teachers, 22 of which are tenured full-time. They develop teaching and research activity in the Faculties of Chemistry, Marine Sciences and the Technical School of Industrial Engineering, all of them in the Campus of Vigo, as well as in the Faculties of Sciences and Educational Sciences, both located at the Campus of Ourense.
